Poet Hilal Omar Al Jamal’s debut release, fully illustrated by acclaimed visual artist Kristina Collantes, terro(a)r is a collection of the young american author’s experimental poetry and prose. Al Jamal, whose work has been featured in several zines and literary journals, describes the book as a “phantasmagorical, autobiographical, subter-realist (mis)representation of a little life stricken with love or terror.” Terro(a)r is Al Jamal’s first chapbook length literary release.
Each of the author’s poems are enhanced by Collantes’ stark, fantastical full-page illustrations, visual pieces that evidence the illustrator’s marked talent. A regular contributor to The New Yorker, Collantes’ work has been featured in a myriad of venues, including The New York Times and Vice Magazine. Her contribution to this project is extraordinary. This book is bundled with a 7″ vinyl record of Al Jamal’s music, released under the moniker Brother Mitya. Kristina Collantes also did the art for this record, which makes for a perfect companion piece to the book.
